The beginning of all great accomplishments is the Desire to create.  The stronger the desire, the more power flows into the creation process.  In 12 Step Meetings, we talk about having a "Burning Desire" to Recover.  That "Burning Desire" motivates us to share in meetings.  It motivates us to work the 12 Steps.  It motivates us to take on positions of responsibility as a Trusted Servant.  The same "Burning Desire" can fuel and empower us to develop and manifest our Vision, to achieve our Goals and to take all the Positive Actions necessary to get us there.  

Every great fortune started from somebody who had a "Burning Desire" to create wealth.  Every company, corporation, non-profit organization, or club grew from the "Burning Desire" of the founding member.  Every great painting, novel, theatrical play or musical composition grew and blossomed from the fertile soil -- the inspired imagination of someone who had a "Burning Desire" to express him or herself.  

Many vaccines, medications and surgical procedures evolved from someone who had a "Burning Desire" to research, help, heal or save the lives of others.   In other instances, rare individuals developed a "Burning Desire" to solve a problem that none had been able to before...such as creating a 12 Step Fellowship that heals the spiritual illness behind Alcoholism or Compulsive Overeating, Lusting, Debting or Financial Underearning.  

Much of the world's population is the result of one partner having a "Burning Desire" for his or her mate.  All these examples illustrate the creative drive that makes the world go 'round.   

In Financial UA, we read and utilize the book "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.  This book outlines the necessity of having a "Burning Desire" as the starting point of all riches.  It is the origin and the fuel by which all humankind creates and perpetuates our many accomplishments.  The "Burning Desire" is the first step in the 6 step process for turning any desire you have into its material equivalent.  Anything you can imagine and then back up with a "Burning Desire", you can create or manifest in this world.  It is also the very basic and most necessary ingredient to possess for a person coming to any 12 Step program.  It is only by having a strong and overpowering Desire to Recover, that the newcomer is willing to go to ANY lengths to make personal change and embark on the Spiritual journey -- to relentlessly pursue having a series of Spiritual Experiences.
